Dr. D. Y. Patil Pratishthan, a charitable trust founded in 1991 by Dr. D. Y. Patil, is committed to the noble cause of education in varied disciplines such as Medicine, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Physiotherapy, Engineering, Architecture, Information Technology, Pharmacy, Arts, Science, Commerce and Management. The D. Y. Patil group has created educational facilities of international standards at Pune, Kolhapur and Mumbai. It caters to the educational needs of more than 50,000 Indian and foreign students.
DYPIMS was established in 2004 and is located in Akurdi, a suburb of the mega industrial township of Pimpri-Chinchwad. The Motto of the Institute is ‘Gyanadheenam Jagat Sarvam’ which means knowledge is supreme. DYPIMS spread over an area of 1.25 acres of land and boasts of a 40% green campus.
DYPIMS is accredited with an 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), for a period of five years effective from May 01, 2015.

The Institute is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and follows the academic curriculum prescribed by it. The Institute also offers the facility of obtaining an additional specialization after the successful completion of the regular MBA program, as per the norms of the University. The Institute also offers enrichment programs – Personality Development Capsules and Business/Communicative English sessions to promote the overall growth and development of the students. A Certificate course in Advanced Excel is also offered to the students for skill enhancement. The Institute follows a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as prescribed by the University.

The Institute has a recognized Post Graduate Research Center approved by SPP University as the official centre for research work leading to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The center currently has four research guides and eighteen research scholars registered with them to pursue their Ph.D. in varied areas of management. The Institute has also formulated a research committee to monitor and address the issues of research. The Institute also publishes an annual peer-reviewed research journal titled DYPIMS International Journal of Management and Research to create awareness and promote the transfer of research findings to the community.

The Institute has a Placement Cell that provides career guidance and placement opportunities to the students. Supporting teams like Placement Assistance Team, Core Team and Corporate Relations Team have been created to strengthen the Placement Cell. The Institute also has an Entrepreneurship Development Cell to facilitate the development of entrepreneurial abilities amongst the students and to promote entrepreneurship as a career choice.

The Institute has a Cultural Committee and a Sport Committee to encourage students to participate in various sports, games, cultural and other extra- co curricular activities by providing necessary academic and monetary support. Separate Boys and Girls Common Rooms as well as requisite assistance for the Boys and Girls Hostels, an In-House Reprographic Center and Canteen are a part of the Institute.
The Institute publishes an in-house quarterly Newsletter. It includes poems, opinion pieces, essays, reports, and other original writings of students and staff.

The Institute has a University-approved National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of 100 volunteers. The NSS unit takes up numerous community engagement activities throughout the year. The Institute has a tie-up with an orphanage, Nachiket Balgram, and organizes various activities for its students. The Institute has a tie-up with a school for dumb and deaf, Pimpri-Chinchwad Muk Badhir School to develop their premises.
The NSS unit has been organizing an Annual Residential Camp at Gawadewadi, a village in the vicinity of the Institute since the last three years. The seven day camp encourages the attitude of selfless service amongst students and promotes their physical, mental and spiritual development.

The Institute has been conducting a NSS camp at these villages since the last five years. Activities such as tree plantation, cleanliness and upkeep of the village, construction of dam, garbage removal, and soil tilling are carried out.

The Institute has a registered Alumni Association. Currently, 708 alumni are registered with the Alumni Association. Major contributions made by alumni for the development of the Institute are in the areas of providing guest lectures, summer internships and final placement opportunities. The Institute maintains a Facebook page for the Alumni Association. Alumni are invited to attend various events organized by the Institute and also to interact with the Institute’s Governing Body during the annual induction program.

Sixth General Body Meeting of Alumni Association held on 19th March 2016. The MD Operations Prof. Bharat Chavan Patil welcomed all the alumni members present for the Sixth General Body Meeting of DYPIMS Alumni Association. The Secretary with the permission of the chair took the subjects on agenda for consideration one by one.
The secretary, Prof. Vinay Nandre introduced the Director Dr. Mrs. Surya Ramdas and shared the achievements of Director with all the members. The secretary, Prof. Vinay Nandre appealed alumni to choose new alumni representatives for Governing Body.
The Secretary gave an audio-visual presentation on the various activities carried out by alumni for the information of the remaining Alumni. The initiatives and efforts taken by the alumni were appreciated by president of alumni association and the management. The secretary presented an Audited report of the last financial year and Budgeted copy of the current financial year forwarded to the charity commissioner’s office.
The President explained every possible step which the Alumni can adopt to help the Institution attain the best of Quality standards to not only remain MBA Accredited Institution but also to emerge as one of the best ‘B’ school at the National and International level.
Current batch students organized a sweet and short cultural program for alumni. Alumni really enjoyed the program. Finally the meeting was concluded with vote of thanks by Prof. Mangesh Asawalikar. A group photograph was clicked in garden area followed by Lunch in a Hotel.
